About the Farm
Background
Richard and Thelma Seidel moved to the farm in 1965, and it has since grown to include four generations of farmers. Brad and Kate, siblings, began farming in 1997 and officially established the business in 2005. The farm has been a staple in the community for decades, known for its diverse produce and family-oriented activities.
Practices
The farm cultivates 10 acres, dedicating 6 acres to pumpkins, squash, and fall ornamentals, and 4 acres to vegetables. They also support local agriculture by selling tree fruit such as peaches and plums from a nearby orchard. Holiday items like handmade wreaths and cemetery log boxes are crafted from local greens, emphasizing their commitment to using regional resources.
The Rest
The farmstand opens at the end of June and closes on October 31st, re-opening the day after Thanksgiving for the holiday season until the Sunday before Christmas. Weekend activities in October include wagon rides to the pumpkin patch and children's activities. The farm is part of the Lehigh County Open Gate Farm Tour in October and participates in the Farmer's Market Nutrition program.
