About the Farm
Background
Purchased in 1916 when it was just 12 acres, Maple Acres Farm has been a landmark of Plymouth Township for more than a century. The farm has been a generational contribution to the community where mothers, fathers, uncles, grandparents, great-grandparents, sons, and daughters have lived and worked the farmland on Narcissa Road, right here in Plymouth Meeting for four generations. Gary McKeown has preserved the Maple Acres Farm, named by his mother Millie, as it expanded to thirty acres over the years. Today, Gary and his family still live in the 18th-century farmhouse that he grew up in.
Practices
Gary McKeown has dedicated his life to preserving the farm's natural grounds and providing farm-fresh offerings for the community. The farm emphasizes the importance of preserving open space amidst new construction in the county. The farm's offerings include home-grown corn, you-pick flowers, fresh free-range chicken eggs, farm-raised beef and pork, local honey, and preserves.
The Rest
The farm offers hay rides on the first Saturday of the month, Monday night outdoor yoga sessions, and custom farm-inspired flower bouquets. Bassett's Ice Cream is also available. The farm's preservation is supported by the love and support of family and community members.
