About the Farm
Background
Located in south central Pennsylvania, Martin's Twin Brook Farm has built a reputation for raising Scotch Highland cross cattle, free-range emus, and chickens on their natural pastures. Known for their commitment to natural farming methods, they have become a trusted source for high-quality beef, emu meat, and chicken eggs. The farm's products are in high demand, with limited supply available for dedicated customers.
Practices
Martin's Twin Brook Farm adheres to strict natural farming practices. The cattle are fed only pasture grass, hay, and a mineralized salt block, with no antibiotics or hormones used. The pastures are maintained without chemical fertilizers or herbicides, ensuring a healthy and natural environment for the animals. Emus and chickens are also raised on these same pastures, free from antibiotics and hormones. This approach not only supports animal health but also contributes to the ecological balance of the farm.
The Rest
Beef is sold by the mixed quarter and must be picked up at a local butcher, typically in July or October. Emu meat is available by the half or whole bird, with a whole bird yielding 50 to 80 pounds of meat. Fertile, free-range brown chicken eggs are also available in very limited quantities. Customers are encouraged to join a waiting list for product availability and are contacted a few weeks before their order is ready for pickup.
