McCarthy Family Farm

Formerly known as Trout Creek Orchard, McCarthy Family Farm has a rich history in Mt. Hood, Oregon, spanning four generations. The farm is deeply committed to the land, community, and employees, producing high-quality products such as pears, apples, cherries, hay, cattle, and Christmas trees. They offer farm management services for orchardists, farmers, and ranchers in the Hood River Valley.

Pioneering fertilization and irrigation practices that reduce toxic air and water pollutants, the farm collaborates with scientists to develop new integrated pest management techniques. They have nearly eliminated the use of hazardous organophosphate pesticides and work with the Mid-Columbia Agricultural Research and Extension Center to test alternative pest control methods like codling moth mating disruption. The farm invests in energy-efficient methods and equipment, replacing diesel-generated smudge pots with propane heaters, and reducing the use of commercially produced fertilizers and pesticides.

The farm offers gourmet fruit gift baskets and holiday wreaths, available seasonally through their online store. They are open to partnerships with local florists, nurseries, fundraisers, and corporate partners to share their premium products across the Pacific Northwest.
