About the Farm
Background
Established in 1928, this family-owned farm and garden center has been serving home gardeners and commercial farmers for generations. Known for its high-quality plants and produce, the farm operates 29 greenhouses and produces 95% of its plants and flowers on-site. Over the years, it has become a trusted source for vegetable transplants, bedding plants, and specialty annuals in the local community and beyond.
Practices
The farm emphasizes quality-first practices, growing plants from seed and ensuring they are harvested at the peak of taste and nutritional value. By focusing on local agriculture, they support the preservation of open space and the viability of local family farms. The farm uses both organic and black plastic mulches to conserve moisture, control weeds, and maintain optimal soil conditions for their crops.
The Rest
The farm also operates a CSA program, providing fresh, locally-grown food directly to the community. They are active in supporting local organizations and educational programs, including the York County 4-H and the York County Food Bank. The farm is a proud member of several agricultural and business associations.
