About the Farm
Background
Founded in 1992 by the Carr family, the farm has grown to include a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Known for its premium, grass-fed meats, the farm serves the Chicago area through farmers markets and a robust CSA program.
Practices
The farm employs rotational grazing on 220 acres of OCIA organic-certified pastures, ensuring livestock and poultry thrive on soy-free, non-GMO forages and feeds. Animals are raised without antibiotics or hormones, never placed in feed lots or cages, and the farm emphasizes land stewardship to create a mutually beneficial ecosystem for native plants and wildlife. This method also contributes to combating climate change by fixing excess carbon into the soil.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of events such as farm tours, dinners, and festivals, providing opportunities for visitors to engage with the farm. They also sell frozen meat cuts and fresh eggs at farmers markets throughout Chicagoland and offer home delivery, mail shipping, or market pick-up options for their CSA program. Additionally, the farm produces raw honey from their organic, native pastures.
