Mirror Image Farms

Joella and the owner both grew up on family farms before marrying and managing their own property in Bainbridge, PA, along with two other rented properties. The owner previously worked on a conventional dairy, poultry, and crop farm in southern Lancaster County, which inspired a search for more holistic and diverse farming methods. Mirror Image Farms is known for its commitment to observing nature and integrating natural principles into farming practices.

The farm does not use chemical herbicides or fertilizers on its pastures. Animals are raised on pasture and rotated daily to fresh grass, mimicking the movement of historic buffalo herds to create nutrient-dense topsoils and pastures. Beef cattle are 100% grass-fed, moved to new pastures daily, and fed hay or haylage in winter. Calves nurse for at least seven months and are never fed grain. Heritage breed hogs are raised on pasture with access to shaded wooded areas and supplemented with GMO-free, organic transition grain. Pastured chickens and turkeys are also moved daily and fed GMO-free, organic transition grain.

The farm sells directly to customers in bulk and through a monthly meat CSA. Their pork is featured in local restaurants such as Ma(i)son, Luca, and Cabalar Meat Co. The farm also offers honey, soups, and broths as part of its product line.
