About the Farm
Background
Misty Meadows Dairy began as a vegetable farm in 2000 when the owners moved from the city to Monroe, WI. Initially growing vegetables on a small plot, their passion for farming quickly expanded the garden to 3 acres with dozens of vegetable varieties. In 2004, the farm diversified into a commercial goat dairy, now milking around 160 goats and supplying milk to a local goat cheese plant.
Practices
The farm is committed to growing a unique variety of vegetables, including heirlooms, European varieties, and gourmet products. Their produce is guaranteed to be picked fresh before reaching customers. The goat dairy operation involves raising young goats and ensuring high milk production, which is then transformed into a range of fresh and aged goat cheeses.
The Rest
Misty Meadows Dairy offers free samples of their goat cheeses at their farm market stands, where they also sell their own range of goat milk soaps and lotions. They attend two local markets weekly, bringing fresh produce that is quickly bought up by eager shoppers. The farm's connection to the community is strong, with local support being a key element of their success.
