About the Farm
Background
Molly Sowash and CJ Morgan, first-generation farmers, started their farming journey in Athens, Ohio out of concern for climate and environmental destruction caused by industrial food systems. Molly's experience spans urban and rural farms in Minnesota, while CJ's background includes managing a dairy farm and working with the Forest Service. Together, they began their farm in March 2020 with eight Lowline Angus calves, supported by Molly's family.
Practices
Employing regenerative practices, the farm raises 100% grass-fed and finished beef and pastured pork. Their cattle live entirely on pasture, never fed grain, and their pigs enjoy a diverse diet complemented by non-GMO feed. These methods aim to build healthy soils, sequester carbon, and provide nutritious meat. The farm's philosophy, 'nature as measure,' emphasizes the well-being of the land, animals, farmers, customers, and future generations.
The Rest
The farm sells beef and pork direct-to-consumer in bulk and small bundles, and hosts community gatherings through on-farm shows and workshops. Customers can follow along on Instagram or through the farm's email newsletter.
