About the Farm
Background
Founded in 1997 by John Tecklin, the farm is the oldest and largest CSA farm in the Sierras. John began farming in the early 1990s, and over the years, the farm has evolved into a collaborative effort with a team of farmers making decisions and working together.
Practices
The farm employs time-tested organic farming practices that prioritize soil health. Techniques include the use of cover crops, beneficial insectary plantings, compost, and organic soil amendments. Certified organic by CCOF, the farm views organic standards as a baseline and strives to exceed them, resulting in exceptional produce and continuous improvement of the land.
The Rest
The farm delivers organic vegetable boxes year-round to Western Nevada County, Truckee, Tahoe, and Reno, and offers fruit and flower shares in two seasons. Farm tours are available twice a year, and the farm grows over 40 different crops and 140 varieties for their CSA program, local groceries, restaurants, and the Nevada City Farmers Market.
