About the Farm
Background
Mountain Harvest Farm LLC, founded by Mary Oldham and Francisco 'Chico' Ramirez, began in 2012 when they moved back to Mary’s hometown of Morgantown, West Virginia. Prior to this, Mary served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras, working with a women's agricultural cooperative, while Chico managed his family farm. The farm operates on Owl Creek Farm, known for its 'pick-your-own strawberry' tradition, and has been supported by Del and Linda Yoder. The farm has been recognized with the WV Conservation Farm of the Year award in 2023.
Practices
Mountain Harvest Farm adheres to Certified Naturally Grown standards, emphasizing organic practices. The farm's philosophy centers on environmentally-friendly growing methods, ensuring the quality and quantity of produce desired by customers. The farm's practices reflect a commitment to land stewardship and community service, inspired by the mentorship of Owl Creek Farm owners.
The Rest
Mountain Harvest Farm offers a CSA program with full and half shares, allowing members to receive weekly or biweekly boxes of fresh produce. The farm also participates in the Morgantown Farmers Market, providing fresh vegetables to the local community. Additionally, their produce is featured in dishes at various local restaurants.
