About the Farm
Background
Growing up on a small farm, the founder has been cultivating food since childhood. The farm, located just outside the Quad Cities, offers produce at the Saturday Freight House Farmers Market from May to October and runs a small CSA program called the 'Nosh Box' during the summer months. Additionally, local restaurants incorporate the farm's produce into their menus.
Practices
The farm employs SPIN (Small Plot INtensive) farming techniques, which involve intensively planting, turning over, and rotating beds on a strict schedule to maintain soil health and produce nutrient-rich vegetables. While not currently certified organic, the farm uses OMRI-approved practices to potentially achieve future certification.
The Rest
The owner, with over 30 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, integrates healthcare knowledge to educate people on healthy life choices. The farm's website provides a list of current season produce and offers contact information for inquiries.
