About the Farm
Background
Osamequin Farm is a new cooperative farm project in Seekonk, revitalizing historic land on Walnut Street. The farm is known for its organically cared-for Pick Your Own blueberry field, as well as raspberries and blackberries. The farm also raises heritage livestock, including longwool/shetland sheep and their guard hinny Lilly. The farm's history and logo story are shared through an audio tour available both in person and virtually.
Practices
At the core of Osamequin Farm's efforts is a strong commitment to responsible land stewardship. The farm operates in the spirit of holistic management, considering the interconnected health of soil, crops, forests, livestock, pollinators, consumers, farmers, and the community. The cooperative farming model allows multiple farmers to share resources such as produce washing facilities and cold storage.
The Rest
Osamequin Farm is a non-profit educational space hosting a variety of events and programs, including youth training, nature play for young children, and natural dyeing workshops. The farm stand is open from spring through autumn, featuring produce and flowers from Resident Farmers. The farm also offers private event bookings, making it a picturesque venue for special occasions. Educational programming covers topics like sustainable food production, conservation land stewardship, and local ecology.
