About the Farm
Background
The 28-acre Suffield farm has been in the family since the mid-1800s, originating from ancestors who emigrated from Northern Ireland. The East Granby farm, part of a royal land grant from 1647, has remained in the Griffin family and is now managed by the 11th generation. The farm began its CSA program in 2009, growing together as a family and business.
Practices
The farm adheres to USDA Certified Organic standards for its vegetable and flower production. The emphasis is on organic farming methods that respect the land and promote ecological balance.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of vegetables including melon, potatoes, carrots, kale, kohlrabi, eggplant, edamame, onions, pumpkins, broccoli, tomatoes, celery, peppers, cabbage, and beans. They serve CSA customers and also supply local groceries, restaurants, and farmers' markets. The farm's name and logo feature an ox, a nod to the oxen that once lived on the property and were a local landmark.
