About the Farm
Background
Located in the fertile Hood River Valley, this small orchard has been organically managed since 2016 and received organic certification in 2019. Alma and Dave, the young orchardists behind the operation, bring a rich history of farming from their diverse backgrounds. Alma's connection to fruit trees stems from her childhood in Los Angeles and her grandfather's farm in central Mexico, while Dave's experience comes from working on a small farm in Maine during his high school and college years.
Practices
The orchard employs organic methods, avoiding synthetic pesticides and fertilizers to promote the health of consumers, the land, and the farmers themselves. Each peach and nectarine is handpicked to ensure peak ripeness and maximum flavor, allowing the fruit to fully develop on the tree. The volcanic soils of the Hood River Valley provide a unique growing environment that enhances the quality of the produce.
The Rest
The orchard offers both small and large quantities of fruit for personal consumption and canning. Customers can schedule a pickup or find the orchard's produce at the Hood River and Mosier Farmer's Markets. Collaborations with local businesses like Salt & Straw, New Seasons Market, Von Ebert Brewing, and Solstice Wood Fire Pizza highlight the orchard's commitment to community and quality.
