About the Farm
Background
The Fairhead family has been on their ranch since it was homesteaded in 1885. Although they sold all their cattle four years ago, they returned to ranching after starting and selling a new business. Their deep roots in ranching date back to the late 1800s with the homestead act.
Practices
The ranch operates on a 'Grass Only' basis, ensuring no grains or byproducts are ever used. The cattle are grassfed and finished, humanely treated, and the ranch is certified organic. The land, located in the Sandhills on the state line between South Dakota and Nebraska, is a paradise of grass-covered hills and meadows, sitting atop the Ogallala Aquifer. The ranch emphasizes gut health and natural immunity to disease for their cattle, avoiding antibiotics, hormones, and chemicals. They focus on optimal care of the land and animals, finishing the beef on the highest quality grasses to produce nutrient-dense beef packed with Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.
The Rest
The ranch is dedicated to transparency, inviting customers to ask questions, visit, or tour the ranch. Every beef is processed at USDA inspected facilities and vacuum packaged to ensure freshness. The ranch offers various beef bundles for sale and prides itself on high standards for producing beef, continually seeking new information and practices to improve their operation.
