About the Farm
Background
Riehm Produce Farm has a five-generation family legacy, starting in the mid-1950s with George and Leonard growing the first vegetables. In the 1960s, cucumbers were harvested for processing, and strawberries were added in 1965. After George's passing, the farm was maintained by relatives until John took over in 1978, expanding the crops and starting a roadside stand in 1985. The stand grew over the years, leading to the construction of a 30' x 30' building in 2013. The CSA program began in 2006, and Phil's return in 2015 allowed for year-round vegetable growing.
Practices
The farm emphasizes chemical-free food production and tests the mineral content of their produce, ensuring high levels of essential nutrients like calcium, iron, and potassium. They grow vegetables year-round in both fields and unheated greenhouses, maintaining soil quality and daily practices to enhance flavor and nutrition.
The Rest
The farm offers a CSA program with various share options, including vegetable items, fruit add-ons, and extended season shares. They provide fresh eggs, farm-raised meats, and other local products. The farm also hosts events like a Corn Maze, Barnyard Fun, and PopUp Days. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities and purchase produce from the roadside stand.
