About the Farm

Background

Roger Ringer moved to southern Arizona in March 2011 and has been dedicated to preserving and improving endangered chicken breeds since 2003. He began with Light Brown Leghorns from Gary McKinney's hatchery in Missouri, which closed in 2005, and later added Exchequer Leghorns and Rhode Island Reds to his flock. Over the years, he has focused on maintaining a closed flock and selecting the best birds for breeding to ensure high-quality poultry.

Practices

Roger's chickens are fed a diet of sprouted milo and wheat, organic field peas, beef liver, pork fat, kefir, and vegetable trimmings. He avoids using GMO corn and soy, and has discontinued the use of fish meal due to concerns about pollution. His commitment to natural feeding practices results in poultry with unique flavors and high nutritional value. Roger's approach emphasizes the importance of clean, nutritious food and the health benefits of consuming naturally grown eggs and meat.

The Rest

Roger Ringer is passionate about connecting with others who share his dedication to preserving rare chicken breeds. He offers fertile eggs for hatching and provides extensive information and support to his customers. His website features real photos of his birds, showcasing the quality and beauty of his flock. Roger's goal is to ensure that these endangered breeds continue to thrive and be appreciated by future generations.
