About the Farm

Background

Founded in 1990 by Jean-Paul Courtens and Kelly Cashen on 5 acres in Claverack, NY, the farm moved to Kinderhook in 2000. The CSA began in 1991 with 30 members and has grown to over 930 members across various regions. In 2015, Jody Bolluyt and Keri Latiolais took over ownership and management.

Practices

The farm employs biodynamic and regenerative farming practices, including crop rotation, composting, and cover cropping to maintain soil fertility. Certified organic by NOFA-NY, LLC, and the Real Organic Project, the farm avoids synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, emphasizing soil health as the foundation for farming.

The Rest

The CSA model fosters a direct relationship between farmers and customers, reducing food waste and ensuring fair wages. All leftover produce is donated to food pantries or food banks. The farm team includes Jody Bolluyt, Keri Latiolais, and other dedicated members who contribute to its success.
