About the Farm
Background
Opened in 2008 on the Baerwolf family farm, the creamery was strategically placed between two dairy herds to centralize processing. The Baerwolf brothers, James and Robert, aimed to revive the local milk bottling tradition, investing significant time and research into the venture. The creamery has since become a local staple, offering a range of dairy products and hosting numerous educational events to promote awareness of dairy farming.
Practices
The creamery emphasizes the importance of treating cows with respect, believing that high-quality dairy products come from well-cared-for animals. The farm spans 1700 acres, cultivating corn, soybeans, alfalfa, and wheat. The philosophy of supporting diverse farming styles underpins their operations, ensuring that all practices are geared towards maintaining the natural processes initiated by the cows.
The Rest
Visitors can purchase milk, ice cream, and other local products at the on-site store, which features large viewing windows into the processing area. The creamery also offers a variety of Wisconsin cheeses, chocolates, and other treats. An outdoor park shelter and tractor playground provide a family-friendly environment, and tours are available during the summer months. The Farmhouse Kitchen offers a unique dining experience with a menu focused on grilled cheese sandwiches and an unlimited milk bar.
