About the Farm
Background
Shepherd’s Gate Dairy began raising dairy goats around 1992 with the goal of supplying milk for the family. Initially chosen for their manageability compared to cows, the goats quickly became a family passion, leading to involvement in 4H clubs and ADGA shows. The herd expanded to include high-quality show animals, and the farm built a dairy to handle the increasing demand for unpasteurized goat milk. Over time, the farm's customer base grew, and they began producing cheeses and yogurt. Although they no longer participate in shows, they continue to build their herd of Lamanchas and Alpines.
Practices
Shepherd’s Gate Dairy focuses on maintaining a clean and proper location for milking and processing their milk products. The farm emphasizes the quality of their herd, ensuring that their goats are well-cared for and that their milk products meet high standards. The farm's practices reflect a commitment to providing healthy, unpasteurized goat milk and other dairy products to their customers.
