About the Farm
Background
Simple Dream Farm originated from a desire to live a self-reliant lifestyle, growing, raising, and hunting their own food. Over time, they became active participants in the local food movement, supporting local farmers and businesses. They sell their products both directly from the farm and at the Ritchie County Farmers' Market.
Practices
The farm employs an intensive rotation grazing system for their angus and angus-cross beef cattle, which enhances soil quality with each grazing cycle. The cattle are grass-fed, eliminating the need for grain, hormones, steroids, or regular antibiotics. Their chickens are free-range and dual-purpose, providing both meat and surplus eggs with rich orange yolks, indicative of a natural diet. The farm also utilizes manure recycling, cover cropping, and careful attention to detail in their gardening practices.
The Rest
In addition to beef and chicken products, the farm offers excess garden produce depending on the season's success. They are also in the process of establishing berry plantings, orchard trees, and shiitake mushroom production, aiming for consistent future yields to share with the community.
