About the Farm
Background
Settled in 1828, this seventh-generation family farm began transitioning to sustainable practices in 2007. Initially producing pastured poultry, they expanded to include pastured pork in 2008, grass-fed beef in 2009, and Thanksgiving turkeys in 2010. By 2018, they were producing about 2,000 pastured broilers, 125 Thanksgiving turkeys, 75 forest-raised hogs, and finishing 24 head of cattle per year.
Practices
The farm employs sustainable, chemical-free methods, raising animals on pasture without antibiotics, vaccinations, or confinement feeding operations. Cattle are 100% grass-fed and finished, and all grains used for poultry and pork are GMO-free and/or USDA Certified Organic. The farm uses only USDA Certified Organic vitamin and mineral supplements in grain mixes. Pasture areas are free from chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides, and animals are treated humanely with access to clean water, fresh air, and sunshine. Farming methods focus on low energy input and healing the land through holistic management.
The Rest
The farm emphasizes transparency and invites customers to visit by appointment. They strive to exceed certification standards and ensure that all food sold is of the highest quality, suitable for their own children. Customers can sign up for newsletters to stay informed about product availability, recipes, local events, and food-related news. The farm also offers bulk orders of beef and pork.
