About the Farm

Background

Since the 1940s, the farm has been a pioneer in organic growing methods, avoiding pesticides and herbicides. Initially marketing sweet corn and tomatoes, it opened its first market in Chesapeake in 1982 and has since expanded to various locations, including the Virginia Beach Farmers Market. The farm is known for its high-quality produce and dedication to customer satisfaction, continuing the legacy of integrity and quality established by the founders.

Practices

Utilizing non-GMO seeds and sustainable farming methods, the farm employs Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices with organically approved products. They avoid chemicals to protect the food supply and ensure safety, adhering to Good Agricultural Practices. The farm's philosophy centers on naturally grown production methods, organic sprays, and a commitment to avoiding chemical pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, and growth hormones.

The Rest

The farm offers a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program providing a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables from March through December. They also supply local farm stands, markets, and restaurants with fresh produce. Additional products include free-range eggs, honey, jams, pickles, apple butter, ciders, bedding plants, and flowers. The Virginia Beach Farmers Market location is open daily year-round, offering a wide range of farm products and other goods. Wholesale sales are also available.
