About the Farm
Background
Founded in 2013, Sobremesa Farm was established with the vision of delivering organic produce to the local community. The farm is dedicated to Lucille Bertuccio, a mentor and founder of Bloomington Habitat Stewards, whose passion for native plants and local wildlife inspired the farm's creation.
Practices
Embracing a permaculture approach, Sobremesa Farm integrates flexibility, variability, and regenerative models into its farming system. This method not only supports the production of high-quality produce but also enhances the long-term viability of the farm and its impact on the local and regional landscape. The farm's commitment to organic and regenerative growing methods is evident in its diverse range of crops and its efforts to foster community connections through educational programs and events.
The Rest
Sobremesa Farm hosts a variety of community-oriented activities, including farm-to-table gatherings, educational programs, and collaborations with land conservation organizations. Visitors can enjoy the on-site market every Sunday, participate in the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, or experience farm life through Airbnb stays. The farm offers a seasonal selection of products such as cutting flowers, Asian greens, kombucha, mixed pepper jelly, raw honey, and teas.
