Southern Prairies Farms

Located in the northeastern corner of Morgan County near Syracuse, Missouri, the farm initially focused on raising Boer goats for show stock and slaughter. Over the last couple of years, they have expanded their operations to include an aquaponic greenhouse for growing lettuce, root vegetables, and various greens.

The farm employs aquaponic and hydroponic systems within their greenhouse to cultivate a variety of produce. These methods integrate fish farming with plant cultivation, creating a symbiotic environment that maximizes resource efficiency and minimizes waste. Additionally, they maintain an outdoor garden for growing seasonal produce.

The farm has recently installed a separate hydroponics system specifically for raising tomatoes. The family, including daughters and grandchildren, actively participates in the farm's operations, aiming to provide fresh, locally grown produce to the surrounding communities.
