About the Farm
Background
Located in northern Rockcastle County, the farm has been breeding and raising Berkshire Pigs, a heritage breed known for its flavor, for the last two and a half years. They also raise Rainbow Rangers and Black Broilers chickens, which are well adapted to pasture and foraging. Additionally, they produce duck eggs and homemade Kentucky Maple Syrup, though the syrup is available only in limited quantities due to seasonal constraints.
Practices
All animals have constant access to pasture and woods and are supplemented with non-GMO grains from a local food mill. The farm enriches its pastures by planting nutritional food plants and trees, aiming to reduce reliance on purchased grain. Operating under permaculture principles, the farm prioritizes the well-being of its animals, providing environments that allow them to grow and act according to their nature.
The Rest
The farm is part of the Berea Farmers Market, held on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm, and offers delivery options upon contact.
