About the Farm
Background
Family owned and operated, the farm has been certified organic since 2003 by the Global Organic Alliance and has practiced organic farming for the past twenty-five years. They are known for their pasture-raised livestock and commitment to organic principles.
Practices
The farm raises its livestock on pasture and feeds them rations made from grain and hay grown on the farm. Laying hens are kept outdoors as weather permits. Humane treatment is paramount, with livestock handled respectfully and taken to top-quality abattoirs for slaughter and provincial inspection. The pork and beef are then returned to the farm cooler, cut, and wrapped in an on-farm meat building to ensure top quality and flavor.
The Rest
Products are sold at the Downtown Edmonton Farmers Market, farm gate sales, and various local outlets. Farm visits are encouraged to allow customers to see the source of their food and meet the farmers. Eggs are graded and packaged in a CFIA-approved egg grading station, and custom meat orders are welcome.
