About the Farm

Background

Located in the Cascade foothills near the Calapooia River, this farm has established itself as a producer of naturally raised, grass-fed animals. Known for their commitment to transparency, they inform customers about the diets and any potential exposure to medications or pesticides of the animals they purchase.

Practices

The farm employs sustainable and holistic farming methods, focusing on pasture-based production and natural forage. Ruminants are fed and finished without grain, and natural, organic products are used for fly control. Livestock guardian dogs prevent predator attacks, antibiotics are used only when necessary, and the use of wormers is limited. Growth hormones and sub-therapeutic antibiotics are strictly avoided. The farm also utilizes local alfalfa hay as a supplement and practices humane management techniques, such as not shearing or tail docking Katahdin sheep.

The Rest

The farm offers a variety of products including Natural Angus Beef, Belted Galloway Beef, pastured-raised free-range chickens, Natural Lamb, Natural Pork, Natural Goat, and pastured-raised free-range eggs. They highlight the superior flavor and tenderness of Angus beef, the hardiness of Belted Galloway cattle, and the lean, mildly flavored meat of Katahdin lambs. The pigs contribute to composting by rooting around and eating extra produce and acorns. The farm's chickens and goats are also raised on pasture, contributing to the farm's sustainable ecosystem.
