About the Farm
Background
Sylvan Meadows Farm has become known for its rare Gotland sheep, which produce gourmet lamb, soft lustrous yarns, fibers, and sheepskins. The farm's products are available at the Dane County Farmer's Market year-round in Madison, Wisconsin, and through retail partners in La Crosse and Viroqua, Wisconsin. They also offer buying clubs with delivery options into the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
Practices
The farm never uses hormones, antibiotics, chemicals, herbicides, or pesticides in raising their meats, vegetables, and fruits. They emphasize a holistic approach, integrating meadows and trees into their farming landscape, and grow their own indigo and other plants for natural dyeing. Their farming philosophy is deeply rooted in stewardship and respect for the land.
The Rest
Sylvan Meadows Farm also offers a variety of fiber arts products, including handspun and millspun yarns, and plant-dyed fibers. Their Salvation Soaps provide natural body care using organic oils and essential oils. Customers can pre-order grassfed meats through CSA shares and purchase a variety of cuts and products, such as quarter beef, half lamb, and ground lamb, all of which are 100% grassfed and organically raised.
