About the Farm

Background

Seventeen years ago, the journey began with little knowledge but a lot of enthusiasm. Initially starting with a flock of laying hens, the farm evolved to include meat and laying chickens, turkeys, Angora rabbits, pygora goats, alpacas, and mini ponies. Over the years, the focus has narrowed to chickens and rabbits, particularly French and English Angora rabbits. The farm has become known for its high-quality Angora fiber and yarn, as well as its heritage breed turkeys.

Practices

Raising Angora rabbits requires meticulous care, including daily grooming, high-quality feed, and clean water. The farm emphasizes the importance of maintaining the health and well-being of the animals through diligent upkeep and proper nutrition. Although the dream of a rabbit barn for colony raising has not yet been realized, the commitment to animal welfare remains steadfast. The farm also explores natural dyeing techniques inspired by the surrounding natural beauty, aiming to reflect the vibrant colors of the local landscape in their fiber products.

The Rest

In addition to fiber and yarn, the farm offers unique jewelry and other handcrafted products. The picturesque setting by a lake in mid-Michigan provides inspiration for many of the farm's creative endeavors. The farm's journey is intertwined with the personal growth and milestones of the family, including homeschooling their children and celebrating significant life events such as weddings.
