About the Farm
Background
Becca Knouss founded The Goat Project in 2015 after purchasing her first goats—Luca, Paulie, Indigo, Nettle, and LP. With a background in farming on biodynamic cow and goat dairies as well as organic vegetable farms, Becca's passion for goats led her to establish the farm on eighty acres in Bennington, Vermont. The farm has since become known for its high-quality goat milk and goat milk soap, which Becca began creating to address her own struggles with eczema and dry skin.
Practices
The Goat Project rotates its herd of Nubian goats through the rolling hills of clover, native grasses, and goldenrod, allowing them to graze naturally. The goats also enjoy foraging in hedgerows filled with wild roses, honeysuckle, and apple trees. This rotational grazing method not only provides the goats with a diverse diet but also helps maintain the health of the land.
The Rest
The Goat Project's soap combines goat milk with organic olive oil and organic coconut oil to create a gentle, moisturizing lather that is beneficial for all skin types. Customers have reported relief from conditions such as eczema, rosacea, and seasonal dryness. The farm stand offers raw goat milk, and the soap is celebrated for its skin-loving properties.
