About the Farm
Background
The farm has been dedicated to organic practices and heirloom varieties, offering a wide selection of plants such as tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, squash, broccoli, kale, and cabbage. Known for their presence at local farmers markets, they have been a staple in the community, providing organically raised vegetables and seedlings. Additionally, they have a herd of Jacob sheep and Dexter cattle, emphasizing self-sufficiency and natural living.
Practices
All plants are raised in organic potting medium, fertilized with fish and kelp fertilizer, and grown with care on a small farm. The farm adheres to Certified Naturally Grown standards, ensuring that all practices align with organic growing principles. They are committed to avoiding genetically modified crops and the overuse of chemical pesticides. Dexter cattle are chosen for their manageable size, excellent birthing capabilities, gentle demeanor, and strong mothering instincts.
The Rest
The farm actively participates in the organic food movement, encouraging others to grow their own food and join the revolution. They sell their produce and seedlings at the Otsego Farmer's Market and the Lawrence Farmers Market during the growing season. The farm also offers Jacob sheep and Dexter cattle for sale, promoting a lifestyle in harmony with nature.
