About the Farm
Background
Located in the historic district of Frederick, MD, this CSA has been offering memberships to the community, allowing individuals to participate in the cultivation and harvest of their own produce. In 2012, they successfully grew 35 varieties of produce.
Practices
Farming practices include soil preparation starting in February, followed by repair and maintenance of the land. The farm utilizes 1500 square feet of raised beds and a 1500-gallon rainwater harvesting system. Organic composting is conducted on site to enrich the soil. The growing season concludes in November with cleanup and planting of grasses for the following spring.
The Rest
Memberships are available at $200 for singles and $350 for doubles, requiring members to work in addition to paying the fee to collect their produce. The farm grows a variety of crops including heirloom tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, artichokes, greens, cabbages, potatoes, and beans.
