Thomas Family Orchard

Located in the farming community of Hallwood, Yuba County, this walnut business is part of a region known for its small, generationally owned walnut orchards. The excellent sandy loam soils have contributed to the flourishing of these orchards. The family takes pride in their work, handling everything from planting to harvesting.

The walnut trees are mechanically shaken during harvest, causing the nuts to fall to the orchard floor. These nuts are then swept to the row center and picked up. The harvested walnuts are taken to a local dryer for bathing, hulling, and drying at a specific moisture level. The farm emphasizes hands-on involvement in all stages of production to ensure the highest quality product.

Visitors can take an orchard tour to learn about walnut harvesting, much like a winery tour. The farm offers walnuts in various packaging options, including 10-50 lb. bags (unshelled) and 1 lb. bags (shelled). They also sell glazed walnuts and walnut brittle.
