About the Farm

Background

Founded in 2015, this nonprofit organization has been dedicated to making local food accessible to all, particularly those facing food insecurity in Ipswich and across the North Shore. The farm collaborates with various community partners to distribute thousands of pounds of fresh produce to low-income, unhoused, or food-insecure neighbors in 18 cities and towns.

Practices

Utilizing the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, the farm fosters a direct relationship between farmers and eaters. Members purchase a share of the farm's produce before the growing season, providing upfront investment for seeds and supplies. This model allows both farmers and members to share the risks and rewards of farming. The farm emphasizes quality, dignity, and choice, ensuring that everyone receives the same high-quality produce regardless of their ability to pay. They also accept SNAP benefits for CSA shares.

The Rest

The farm's CSA program runs from mid-June to mid-October for summer shares and from early November to mid-December for fall shares. They offer full-price, sliding-scale pricing, payment plans, and free shares to ensure accessibility. The farm's produce is also distributed through community partners such as Acord Food Pantry, Root, Wellspring House, Ipswich Refugee Program, North Shore YMCA, and Nourishing the North Shore. The farm operates on land shared by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and The Cuvilly Arts and Earth Center.
