About the Farm
Background
Since 1999, Three Springs Farm has been central Kentucky's longest-running CSA farm, known for its commitment to organic and sustainable farming methods. Located on 200 acres of hills and hollows along Crooked Creek, the farm has become a staple in Nicholas County, providing fresh produce to subscribing customers and several area restaurants.
Practices
The farm employs organic and sustainable methods to cultivate two acres of fertile bottomland, which lie at the heart of the operation. The majority of the farm's hilly acreage consists of woods and grasslands, supporting a small herd of Nubian dairy goats. By maintaining a high ratio of woodlands and pasture to cultivated land, the farm aims to create a sustainable ecosystem where wildlife and agriculture coexist harmoniously.
The Rest
Interns are a vital part of the farm's operations, with an average of two interns per season living in their own home on partially-wooded land overlooking the fields. The farm is operated by David Wagoner and Arwen Donahue, with help from their daughter, Phoebe.
