About the Farm
Background
Located in north central Massachusetts in the rural town of Ashburnham, Timberlost Farm transformed from a dairy farm to a beef operation in 1976. Located in the Worcester Hills and the Monadnocks, the farm benefits from the rich natural resources of the area, including seven lakes and the headwaters of the Nashua, Millers, and Souhegan Rivers. Over the years, Timberlost Farm has become known for its high-quality Hereford and Hereford Cross Beef cattle, supplying many local customers.
Practices
Timberlost Farm employs rotational grazing to ensure the health and quality of their cattle. The cattle are pasture-raised and receive the best care without the use of hormones or additives, resulting in all-natural beef. This method not only promotes the well-being of the animals but also maintains the fertility and health of the land.
The Rest
Visitors are welcome to see first-hand how the beef is raised. The farm offers beef typically sold as halves and quarters, processed according to customer preferences. Prices for 2023 are $4.60 per pound hanging weight plus a $475 processing fee for a side of beef, and $4.75 per pound hanging weight plus a $240 processing fee for a quarter. The farm also provides a variety of cuts, including Top Round Steak, NY Sirloin, and Tenderloin, among others. Customers can contact the farm directly to place orders and learn more about the available cuts and recipes.
