About the Farm
Background
The farm has been in the family since the 1800s, evolving from tobacco production to orchards and brandy distilling, to timber and cattle. Since 2009, they have been marketing grass-fed beef with a strong conservation focus.
Practices
Cattle are rotationally grazed on chemical-free pastures without grain, artificial hormones, or antibiotics. The farm uses minimal outside inputs like Thorvin organic kelp and Redmond salt to enhance herd health. Conservation practices include a permanent conservation easement, fencing to protect creek banks, and sustainable timber management.
The Rest
The farm offers beef by the quarter, half, and whole, as well as burger shares. Custom processing is located only 7 miles away to ensure a low-stress journey for the cattle. They host Save Our Streams volunteers to monitor water quality and have won awards for their woodland management.
