About the Farm
Background
Established north of Houston, this farm began its journey with a focus on raising pastured poultry including chicken, duck, and guinea hen. The farm is 50% minority-owned and has been steadily developing its practices and infrastructure since its inception.
Practices
The farm employs regenerative farming methods, emphasizing soil building and reducing external inputs. Birds are raised on pasture and supplemented with GMO-free or organic feed, without the use of antibiotics, hormones, or other medicines. The farm is also integrating permaculture principles, with one owner holding a Permaculture Design Certificate. This knowledge is being applied to develop the land sustainably, including planting fruit and nut trees to supplement animal feed. Ethical land use and humane treatment of animals are central to their philosophy.
The Rest
Future plans include adding goats that will graze at the forest edge and maintaining productive bee hives for natural honey.
