About the Farm
Background
In its tenth year, Upland Hills CSA has been serving the community with a strong commitment to organic farming practices since 2009. Initially certified organic by OEFFA for four years, the CSA decided not to renew its certification due to increased costs and the end of a government cost share program. As part of the Upland Hills Learning Community, the CSA benefits from resources available through Upland Hills Farm and Upland Hills School.
Practices
Maintaining the same farming practices since 2009, the CSA focuses on organic methods despite no longer holding certification. The community garden model involves members in planning, planting, maintaining, and harvesting the garden collectively, rather than supporting a single farmer or farm.
The Rest
For the 2018 season, the CSA offers 16 weeks of produce from mid-June through October, with each week's share including 5-20 varieties of vegetables, melons, and herbs. A free children's program is available during work share hours, providing supervised gardening and playtime for children while parents fulfill their work share duties. Produce can be picked up at the farm from Monday to Wednesday or on Saturday mornings.
