About the Farm
Background
Since its inception in 1990, Waldingfield Farm has built a reputation on the legendary performance of its annual heirloom tomato crop. Over the years, the farm has expanded its offerings to include a wide variety of gourmet vegetables. The farm's produce is available at their farm stand, through their CSA program, at local farmers markets, and at select retail and restaurant outlets. Waldingfield Farm also offers artisanal food products online and at select stores in the northeast.
Practices
Waldingfield Farm adheres to organic farming principles, growing vegetables without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, hormones, or any synthetic substances. The farm uses natural fertilizers such as composted cow manure, sea kelp, and green manures like clover, vetch, and rye grass. Crop rotations are employed to keep the soil healthy and free of disease. The farm is committed to enriching the soil, preventing erosion, and protecting groundwater, ensuring that the land remains bountiful long after the crops have been harvested. Waldingfield Farm follows the rules and regulations of Baystate Organic Certifiers with honesty and integrity.
The Rest
Produce from Waldingfield Farm is available at farmer's markets in Connecticut, the farm's barn store, and through their CSA program. The farm also offers summer internships, hosts events such as 'Dinner With Friends,' and provides event space for various occasions. Visitors are encouraged to take a trip to the farm to meet the growers in person.
