About the Farm

Background

Originally known as LA Berry Farms, Weeks Bay Plantation has grown to become one of the largest U-Pick blueberry farms in Alabama. Starting with just 12 acres, the farm has expanded its offerings to include a variety of seasonal vegetables and spring flowers. The farm is also known for hosting events like the Gulf Coast Fungi Fest and offering farm stays through Airbnb.

Practices

Since planting the first blueberry bush, Weeks Bay Plantation has adhered to USDA guidelines for organic certification. The farm is currently in its second year of the certification process, aiming to meet all the standards required to be fully certified. The farm grows 15 different varieties of blueberries, including Tif Blue, Climax, Becky Blue, and Legacy, to ensure an extended picking season.

The Rest

In addition to blueberry picking, visitors can enjoy a range of activities such as fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. The farm also features a small beach area with lounge chairs and hosts events like the Gulf Coast Fungi Fest. For those looking to stay longer, the farm offers accommodations through Airbnb.
