About the Farm

Background

Brian and Nancy Wilson have farmed together on Nancy’s home place since 1982, after leaving their office jobs. They have built a wealth of knowledge over 40+ years about animal and land care. Their daughters, Natasha and Claire, joined the farm more recently, bringing diverse skills and experiences. Natasha returned to the farm in 2019 after a varied career, while Claire came back in 2023 with a background in social work and a passion for animals and the outdoors.

Practices

The farm employs rotational grazing to provide nutritious pasture for cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, and goats, enhancing soil health. Animals are raised outdoors with ample space to roam. The farm avoids pesticides and herbicides, using non-GMO feeds for grain-fed animals. Cows are grass-fed and supplemented with hay in winter, without grain. The farm's practices aim to improve soil, air, and water health while ensuring animal welfare.

The Rest

The farm offers various purchasing options, including local delivery every other Thursday, on-farm pickup by appointment, and bulk meat purchases. They partner with veggie CSA farmers and accept SNAP/EBT payments. Their products are available at local stores such as Kalona Coffee House and Cultivate Hope Corner Store. The farm has been featured in several publications, highlighting their innovative practices and community-focused approach.
