About the Farm

Background

Since December 2011, a group of backyard chicken farmers in Arizona has pooled their resources to obtain wholesale pricing on organic chicken feed. Over the years, they have expanded their offerings to include more than thirty different organic feeds and food-grade flours and grains. The cooperative has grown to serve various cities across Arizona, including Phoenix, Tucson, Mesa, and more, providing significant savings to its members.

Practices

The cooperative focuses on sourcing USDA certified organic, non-GMO feeds that are soy-free, corn-free, and canola-free. They emphasize the importance of avoiding GMO contamination, recognizing the challenges posed by cross-pollination and the prevalence of GMO ingredients in the food supply. By offering freshly mashed and bagged-to-order products, the group ensures high-quality feed for their animals. Custom formulations are available for larger orders, and there are no membership fees or minimum order requirements.

The Rest

Members of the cooperative enjoy savings of $8-$25 per 50lb bag compared to retail prices, with no minimum order or commitment required. Orders are placed bi-monthly, and pickups are available in various locations across Arizona. The group also offers custom formulations for orders over 2500 lbs. Interested individuals can join the cooperative by signing up through the contact form on their website. The cooperative's efforts are supported by community volunteers, making it a sustainable and community-driven initiative.
