About the Farm
Background
Located in Rushford, NY, the 52-acre farm has been raising Quarter Horses and beef cattle for many years. In 2005, Shetland Sheep were added to the operation, chosen for their fine, durable, naturally colored wool. The addition of Shetland Sheep also brought the first Border Collie to the farm, complementing the existing Australian Cattle Dogs.
Practices
Managed rotational grazing with multiple species ensures optimum growth and health of the animals. Livestock are raised on top-quality forage and mineral supplements without the use of medicated feed, antibiotics, or growth hormones. The farm emphasizes raising animals as close to nature's way as possible.
The Rest
The farm offers grass-fed beef and Shetland lamb, processed to order at a USDA-inspected facility, available year-round. Meat is double-wrapped and frozen. They also provide free-range eggs from layers that receive certified natural feed along with free-choice pasture or hay.
