About the Farm
Background
In 2010, while Pete was deployed for the US Marine Corps, Heather began their journey into farming with a single tomato plant. This initial curiosity blossomed into a passion for growing their own food, leading to the creation of their first vegetable garden and the addition of chickens and dairy goats. By 2015, they moved to a 200+ year old farmhouse with 6 outbuildings on nearly 8 acres, naming it Wildheart Farm. Despite challenges and a temporary move to Washington state, they returned to their farm in 2019 and began raising their own meat, eggs, and dairy. In 2024, they relocated to a new property in western Maryland, continuing their farming endeavors.
Practices
The farm emphasizes pasture-raised meats and raw milk, ensuring their livestock are well-cared for and their products are nutrient-dense. They are dedicated to producing their own food, including meat, eggs, and dairy, and have a strong focus on education, sharing their knowledge of homesteading, fermentation, and backyard medicine with their community.
The Rest
The farm is located in a picturesque location between two ancient mountains, surrounded by rivers and creeks, with plants and animals nourished by pure mountain springs. They are committed to living a connected, slower-paced lifestyle, and enjoy activities such as hiking, fishing, and foraging. The farm also offers educational resources for those interested in homesteading and wellness.
