About the Farm
Background
For four generations, the family has been farming, producing everything from fruit to dairy. Situated in Wolcott, NY, they have transitioned to focusing on beef production, maintaining a deep respect for the land and animals.
Practices
The farm spans almost 300 acres of owned land and 100 to 150 acres of rented land, where they grow crops to feed their beef herd. The herd, consisting of Angus, Hereford, and Hereford/Angus crosses, grazes on nearly 100 acres of rotational pasture. Their diet is supplemented with corn silage, grain, minerals, and hay. Conservation practices such as cover crops, prescribed grazing, concrete barnyards, erosion control, and nutrient management planning are integral to their operations, aiming to protect water quality.
The Rest
In 2022, the farm was awarded Conservation Farm of the Year for their commitment to environmental management and community wellness. They offer various beef cuts and packages for individuals and wholesale options for meat markets, CSAs, and restaurants.
