Huntingdon Farmers Market

The Huntingdon farmers market began in 1985, initiated by James Pingry of Hemmabast Farm and Tony Ricci and Rebecca Smith of Green Heron Farm. Originally located on Washington Street in front of PNC bank, it later moved to 5th Street between Mifflin and Washington. After a hiatus, James Pingry revitalized the market in 2007, relocating it to Portstown Park to reconnect the community with local food and products.

The market features both organic and non-organic vegetables, emphasizing a diverse range of farming practices to cater to different consumer preferences.

The market operates on Thursdays from 11 am to 3 pm at Huntingdon's Portstown Park. It includes 12 core vendors offering homegrown produce, baked goods, wool, eggs, cheeses, honey, wine, kombucha, soaps, and lotions. Additionally, the market hosts volunteer-driven events such as cooking demonstrations and programs to raise awareness about food wellness and access to fresh food through public programs like SNAP.
