Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Young Farmer Market

For more than 22 years, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle has been increasing access to healthy, fresh produce for low-income community members. Teenage apprentices in the Young Farmer Training Program learn to seed, transplant, plan, and harvest produce. The program emphasizes sustainable farming practices and includes education on food justice, healthy eating, and ending food insecurity. Apprentices design and implement profitable crop plans, manage marketing and sales, and engage in customer service, leadership, business, and communication skills development.

The market serves as a practical classroom where apprentices can apply their skills. Profits from market sales go directly to the apprentices, incentivizing their efforts. Additionally, apprentices host farm tours, workshops, and events each Saturday during market hours, fostering community engagement and education.
